Joyce Golbus Poll

Joyce G. Poll has over 30 years experience in the nonprofit sector. Over time, Joyce has become highly regarded as a grant writer, specializing in the fields of health and human services; children and youth; and disabilities. Her unique blend of three backgrounds—as a chief executive officer, as a fundraiser, and as a program administrator/supervisor—has proven advantageous in securing grant funding for clients within the nonprofit community.

Joyce's passion to the field has been integral to her accomplishments. Early in her career, she began one of the first infant-parent centers in Illinois for children under three years of age with special needs; this program is still in operation. She continued from that point forward to achieve significant success in securing funding for high profile, pioneering initiatives. For example:

  • Her most recent accomplishment was authoring one of only two Children¹s Health Insurance Program proposals funded in Illinois by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. This initiative targeted children who were homeless and living in shelters.
  • While Executive Director at CommunityHealth, Joyce created and received seed funding for MedAccess Chicago, a free pharmaceutical access program for the uninsured.
  • Several years prior, while Vice-President of Outpatient Services at Schwab Rehabilitation Hospital, she created and received seed funding for their collaborative Pediatric Community Re-Integration Program.
  • Finally, while Executive Vice-President Joyce was instrumental in bringing to Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago the first therapeutic day school for children with autism.

In March 2008, Joyce became Chicago's first independent grant writer with the nationally recognized Grant Professional Certification (GPC). This accreditation was awarded by the Grant Professionals Certification Institute and she qualified to be among the initial group of candidates in the country to sit for the examination. Currently, Joyce serves as the Immediate Past-President of the Association of Consultants to Nonprofits. She is also a member of the American Association of Grant Professionals and the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
